Album Notes 10 songs from one of the founders of "The Impressions" taped at a live concert in 1988. The concert features such Curtis Mayfield classics as MOVE ON UP, PEOPLE GET READY, FREDDIE'S DEAD and the classic PUSHERMAN.
Personnel includes: Curtis Mayfield (vocals, electric guitar); Paul Weller (spoken vocals); Buzzy Amato (keyboards); Lebron Scott (bass); Lewis Stefanel (percussion).Recorded live at Ronnie Scott's, London, England in 1988. Includes liner notes by Rob Lemkin. The DVD portion of this release features a 5.1 surround sound album mix, "Freddie's Dead" live video footage, interview footage, liner notes, and biographical information. The late Curtis Mayfield was, on his own and with the vocal group the Impressions, a great singer with a memorable falsetto sound and a superb, articulate songwriter who had many classic hit songs. This 1988 concert, recorded at the legendary British jazz club Ronnie Scott's, presents a wonderful cross-section of his best songs from various phases of his career, from the gospel-drenched R&B of "People Get Ready" to the socially-aware funk of "Pusherman" and "Freddie's Dead."
